The subject of most of my photographs is life as it happens; little moments snatched from the fast flowing stream of everyday existence.
When photographing I look for something to be happening; a little moment or minor event, or a gesture perhaps - such uneventful events as would otherwise pass unnoticed. Then I look for an arrangement of lines and shapes, what to leave in and what to leave out, cropping not too tightly so as to maintain a sense of the place - the reality of the moment. A few seconds and the moment has passed. Life goes on. A brief encounter. Only the photograph remains.
